North Fork

A two-hour drive east of New York City, the North Fork is farmland with a coastline attached: bay beaches on the south shore, forty-odd wineries inland, and a season that runs May to late October.
Eleven of our homes are here, from a two-person flat over the harbor to an eight-bed house on the water at Southold.
Winter rates drop by about a third and most of the houses keep their hot tubs open.

The house

The main floor runs the depth of the house — kitchen, a table for ten, and a covered porch facing the water. Two bedrooms look at the water, one looks at the pines, and the bunk room is off the hall. Beach access is at the end of the lane, about four minutes on foot.
